Page 21 - The price paid for them was simply their market value, reference being had solely to the amount of metal contained, as shown by the assays. The laboratory now needs a supply of ores of lower grade, and large quantities of copper rock and iron ores from Lake Superior and other mineral regions. The chief item of cost of such ores will be the transportation from the mines. The value of this laboratory to the University is not to be estimated by the number of students entered upon the annual calendar...
